How Does an Air Source Heat Pump Work?

Heat pumps usually operate at lower flow temperatures than traditional gas boilers. Instead of producing a short burst of very high-temperature heat, they are designed to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature steadily and efficiently.

How Well Insulated Is Your Property?

Most air source heat pump installations require a suitable hot-water cylinder. If your home currently uses a combi boiler without a cylinder, space will need to be found for one.

The required cylinder size will depend on the number of people living in the property and the amount of hot water normally used. This is particularly important for homes with multiple bathrooms or high hot-water demand.

How Do You Currently Use Your Heating?

A heat pump is often most efficient when it maintains a steady temperature rather than being repeatedly turned on and off for short periods.

This may feel different if you are used to switching a boiler on for a quick burst of heat. Your installer should explain how to use the controls and how the system is designed to operate.
